It’s that time again fine folks… AFROPUNK BROOKLYN! What is described by The New York Times as “the most multicultural festival in the US,” it promises an eclectic line-up and an audience as diverse as the acts they come to see.
What started out as a dope Brooklyn-based music festival has now evolved to an international (equally as dope) movement.
AFROPUNK is a staple on the BKLYN LEAGUE team’s social calendar.
Here is the rundown:
WHEN: August 27-28, 2016
WHERE: Commodore Barry Park, Brooklyn, NY.
Now, please pay attention to this section. You don’t want to get all the way to the gate and end having to throw away your belongings or leave. Who wants that?
DO BRING:
- Small purses and clear bags/backpacks
- One recyclable container for water (not two, or three, or four, or any number above one)
DON’T BRING:
- Weapons (guns, knives, or any weapons)
- Large backpacks, book bags or non-transparent bags over hand size (any bag that is not clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and over 12”x6”x12” in size will not be allowed)
- Food and drink (other than a single recyclable water container)
- Alcohol
- Illegal substances of any kind
- Umbrellas (rain or beach)
- Coolers or picnic baskets
- Lawn chairs
- Lasers
- Pets (service dogs will be permitted)
- Scooters or personalized motorized vehicles (that includes hoverboards)
- Detachable lens cameras
- Audio recording equipment
- Video recording equipment
- Remote controlled vehicles or aircraft, including drones
- No unauthorized vendors will be permitted
- No solicitations, handbills, sampling, giveaways, etc.
STYLE: Whatever you want! Live bold. We recommend items that are not constricting, as you will want to dance to the groovy music. Usually attendees go for an African inspired look, mostly West African, with a mix of street style. Think lots of Brooklyn apparel, graphic tees, bold prints and colors.
