When and why did you start playing?

For as long as I can remember, I've always been drawn to music. I got my start singing in church when I was a child.

Who are your favorite musicians? Groups?

Stevie Wonder, Prince, Lalah Hathaway, Brandy, JohnnySwimm, The Civil Wars

If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be? And why?

My Aunt Eula. I was raised by her and she transitioned in the spring of 2016. I think about her daily.

Favorite Brooklyn Neighborhood:

I have soooo many favorite neighborhoods in the great STATE of Brooklyn, but I believe my favorite is Bed-Stuy. While the neighborhood is rapidly gentrifying, there are still many parts that are still predominately occupied by folks who look like me. I love the vibe, the people, the food, the culture. My love affair with Bed-Stuy got receipts!

Favorite Bar and Drink:

My favorite bar in Bed-Stuy (caught the plug?) is Bedford Hall. I like the whole ambiance, the fact that it's black owned, and the people...you never know who you're going to see.

My favorite drink is Whisky - neat. Every grown man needs a grown man's drink.

Favorite Local Restaurant:

Peaches! Not because it's in walking distance to where I live, but because I could really eat it every. single. day.

Favorite Travel Destination and Why:

I hope people don't think I'm lame because my favorite travel destination is Los Angeles, but that really is my favorite destination. I love LA's vibe, the music, the weather, the people, their organic herbal practices, the weather, the authentic Mexican food, and did I mention the weather???

What inspires you?

I would say my friends, both artists and civilians (that's what I call non-musicians). Seeing them succeed in whatever field their in really encourages me to stay on top of my sh*t. In addition to my friends, I believe life inspires me--the ups, the downs, the uncertainty, the heartaches, the possibilities, the successes, the blessings, grace...the process of living inspires me

The BKLYN Flip tee. I'm a fan of simplicity and creativity and that design has a good combination of both.

Why Brooklyn?

Because out of all the cities across the nation, there really isn't any other place I'd rather be.
